Alton Sterling

Broken Systems aren’t fixed

Blood isn’t quenched

Always wanting more

Your fear costs us our lives

So tired,

So weary – our bodies, our lives lay at the altar of your apathy

How do we move forward?

We want peace and  healing too- but God damn we are weary.

So fucking weary.

When will you hear us?

When will you truly see us?

When will our humanity be visible in the face of your own?

When will you value the Image of God in us too?

Our lives matter

‘Justice’  is not going to  raise the bullets from Alton’s chest

Restrain and execute public servant

So much blood

Anguish and bewilderment  grip all our hearts

We will sit with this pain,

Absorb it all until a better way is born
